DectCom - Full Duplex Beltpack System

DectCom uses DECT technology to provide full duplex, hands free communication with rechargeable beltpacks and a combined base station plus built in antenna.

Based on the International DECT 1.8GHz technical specification, this system gives licence free communication over a distance of up to 300 metres which may be extended by the use of repeaters.

The base station can be connected to either four or eight beltpacks, all in a conference. Connection to Mercury IP or Commander / Orator digital matrix intercom is achieved via an interface.

The range features a rugged beltpack with built in rechargeable battery, which can also run on dry cells with an optional battery adaptor. The rechargeable battery will last for approximately 15 hours continuous transmission. Charging time is around five hours with the supplied A.C. adaptor.

A range of headsets with electret mic is available to meet different requirements as well as an acoustic tube in ear moulding for use by presenters.

The beltpack has simple audio level up/down and VOX up/down controls together with a “connect” button to register the beltpack with the base station. It is only necessary to do this the first time the beltpack is used with the base station.

Easy to use Windows based software is available to set the audio parameters of the system and is included with the programming kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question. Do I need to obtain expensive frequency licences to use the DectCom system?

Answer. No the system uses DECT technology which is licence free in more than 110 countries.

Question. Where can I use DectCom 1.8GHz based equipment?

Answer. You can use it in most of the world except USA, Canada and Japan which use a 2.4GHz based system.

Question. Will the Trilogy DectCom log on to telephony DECT in error?

Answer. No. There is an access code to ensure the systems do not connect accidentally to each other.

Question. Do I need to assign the handsets to the base each time the system is turned on?

Answer. No. The assignment (registration) process only needs to be carried out the first time it is used. After this registration occurs automatically when the base station is turned on.

Question. The handset is assigned to a base station but I hear no sound. Why is this?

Answer. Check that the LED is “blinking” correctly- once every three seconds. If it blinks rapidly – twice every three seconds, press the “assign” button. It will then join the conference.

Question. I can hear other members talking but cannot speak back. What is wrong?

Answer. Check that the VOX level ( voice threshold level) is not too high. Press “VOX level” several times until a short tone is heard in the headset. If the pack is being used with a different headset than previously used, try pressing “VOX” and “Vol” simultaneously until a short tone is heard.

Question. Why does the base station turn itself off after a short time?

Answer. Make sure that the power supply is connected. If not, the base station will run on internal battery for a short time.

Question. Why does the handset beep constantly?

Answer. The handset needs charging. The LED will stop blinking when the handset is fully charged (around 5 hours).
